Tangible Self Care Tips for the Over-Worked : Massage

“Self care”, we know it’s important, but how do we effectively incorporate it into our lives?

How does one get better at taking care of themselves, even without the ability to escape on vacation, or go to the spa?

So often things that make us happy, feel so out of reach.

Why not, do our best to incorporate little moments of happiness into our lives on a daily basis?

Why not romanticize our lives, consistently?

In this series, I’ll be highlighting one of the finer things in life and turning it into a daily, tangible act of self love and kindness that you can easily incorporate into your life.

We can find pleasure in learning to romanticize our lives.. and we deserve it. You deserve it.

Start by incorporating each tool daily for one month, and then adding each additional one in the months to come.

Please feel free to share with me the life improvements you may experience! It is my ultimate goal to spread as much well being as possible and I love to hear your stories.

Part 1: Massage

Give your face and body a daily massage

I know what you’re thinking; “yeah right, who has time for this”, but the truth is, you do

Before rushing into your day, taking the time to incorporate daily moisturizing + massage into your routine will reduce tension in the body, improve skin elasticity, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase blood flow to the area, and with time, result in younger, healthier looking skin

  1. Apply moisturizer first to face with clean hands using broad circular strokes and focus on any tense, dry areas. Gently massaging your jaw line, temples, eyebrows, and right in front of your ears promotes relaxation of the facial muscles, muscles we use all day long.

  2. Repeat this same routine on your body with a body moisturizer.  Focusing on areas, with unwanted scars, marks, and/or cellulite can drastically improve those areas by increasing blood flow. Healthily increasing blood flow allows more oxygen to flow to these areas, and in turn promotes faster healing.

Note: If suffering from an eczema or psoriasis break out, gently pat moisturizer into these areas and avoid rubbing them.

Moisturizer is best absorbed 3 minutes after a shower, but this routine can still be incorporated if you don’t take a morning shower, and only adds on an additional 1-3 minutes to your routine.
